What are you doing for Thanksgiving? Do you have any traditions? Go in to detail about your plans for the 5 day weekend.

This year I'm going to Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. We're leaving on Tuesday after school and coming back on Sunday. Usually we're in Tyler, Texas with my grandparents, but since we moved we're taking a vacation instead. Once we come back we'll have our Greeenberg Turkey and watch football.

Go out and look up a what all goes on a resume website. What can you find? Include an example image if possible.

I found one resume website for An-Ni Wang. She designed an interactive website that listed er previous jobs, previous projects, and people she has worked for independently. She also had her history and other personal information about her.

Consider the quote below. What exactly do you think it means and how does it relate to Web Design?

I think the quote means design is not just about setting a mood, it's about making something functional. You design like you build a machine. You've got to find all the parts, so you can create your masterpiece. The quote above relates to web design because we design websites. We learn how to create web pages with the most appeal and functionality. A websites isn't just information on a page. There are links, headers, footers, boxes, images, and much more that go into building a full functioning  website. Gmail is usually a good example of a functional website. There are links and buttons so you can get you what you need done. There are creative and color backgrounds, places  search your files, and ways to connect with her people. We have used this class with CSS and even some HTML. All of this design creates a good experience for the user.

User Experience- the overall experience of a person using a product such as a website or computer application, especially in terms of how easy or pleasing it is to use.

Reflect on your learning this semester so far in this class. Think about the first day you walked in to this room until right now. What have you learned about Web Design? What have you learned beyond Web Design? Explain yourself.

I have learn the basic understanding of HTML and CSS. I know how to program a simple web site, and I am able to read some coding. More than that I have learn things about computers and all their features. I now have an appreciation for technology that I didn't have at the being of the year. Now that I understand some things about computers, I like them more. Also, I now know how to use my gmail and google drive. I think that has been the most helpful skill I have learned in this class.

Tell me about your weekend. Give me details and photos!

This weekend was Halloween! I went to a party in my neighborhood where I went as a zombie. I was up till midnight watching Harry Potter with my brother after the party and had a lot of fun. I didn't do much the next day, but I did go to "Jazz in the Jungle." Sunday I just did homework and was very stressed out!

My weekend started on Friday morning when I left with the band to go to Bands of America! We traveled four hours to St. Louis a performed our show at 7:30.We didn't make finals, but I think that everyone was happy with our show. Over all we screed 25th out of all the bands! At 11:00 pm on Saturday everyone was leaving, but I stayed with my parents at the hotel that night. The next morning we left for Kansas. We got home at 3:00 and I watched Anime for the rest of the day. :)

Below is a letter written to the editor who wrote the article 'Enforcement of dress code creates negative effect' that your blogged about last week. Most of you wrote on your blog that you agreed with the writer. What are your thoughts after reading the letter below and seeing a different perspective. Are they the same? Are the different? Do you agree? Disagree? Explain yourself.
I can understand where your perspective is, but I still find my self agreeing with the original author. I never wear anything riskay. I actually wear the potato sack most days, but I feel that students should enjoy the freedom of wearing what they want while they still can. Your comment about the workplace was a god point, and  it also shows my point that we only have a few more years to wear what we want freely. While you have some good points and I agree with some of your ideas, I till think we should have more freedom with our style.

I think student should study subjects that are geared to their interest and how they want t spend the rest of their lives. For Example, I would study psychology and health instead of geometry and all the other classes that will never impact my life. Schools need to take advantage of student while they have them and let them study something that will be useful. Not ever student needs to know how to find the area of a triangle. I still think that our system is effective, but there needs to be more encouragement to classes that help with real life problems.

The following article was in the September issue of The Tiger Print. Read the article (even if you already have) and respond to it below. What do you think? Do you agree? Disagree? Consider all perspectives of the article while you respond.

I found the author of this article interesting, and I found her to be very convincing  on the topic. The dress codes have always been a hot topic in schools across the country. I feel that the author address the issue honestly and from a unique perspective, but I have to side with the school. The dress code at Blue Valley gives girls freedom and also sets a reasonable standard for clothing. I could understand if the school choose to loosen the dress code.

Tell me about your weekend! If you don't have anything fun to share, tell me about the city you live in. What do you love about Kansas City? Do you have a favorite place in the city? Favorite team? :) Favorite event? Explain.

This weekend I went to Blue Springs with the Band. *epic voice* We started our journey at 6:20 in the morning... Only a few of us made it... Once we were on the bus chaos broke lose. A long series of your mom jokes and singing toke place. We arrived at Blue Spring at 8:00 and warmed up for 3 hours. Once it was time for the performance half the band had frost bite. We then performed our show and we got first in EVERYTHING; everyone cheered. At the end of the day, in Finals, we made 3rd and got a huge trophy! Then everyone passed out.

Tell me about your Homecoming weekend! If you didn't participate in the Homecoming festivities, what did you do? Share pics!

I had a great homecoming weekend! It all started with the Homecoming game on Friday. I play in the band, so I was in the parade and I got to do the show during half time. The next night was the dance. Me and a group went to California Pizza Kitchen and got ice cream at Town Center. After that, we went to the school to dance. I had the best moves there! I milked the cow, sheered the sheep, skinned the pig, mowed the lawn, went grocery cart shopping, and churned the butter. I'm surprised my friends didn't die of embarrassment. Then we all went home at 11:00.

How was your weekend? Did you do anything exciting? Share photos!

This weekend I decided to do something for this class to share. On Saturday, I went to band and got home at 4:00. Then I had one hour to get ready and then go and babysit. I love to babysit little kids, but I don't enjoy this house very well. The girl is about 2 years old and slightly stubborn, but not that much trouble. The trouble is that she has a wolf for a pet. This dog nearly killed me the last time a babysat! It's a pact dog, so it's really protective over the girl and it sees me as a threat. I know better this time so I put the dog outside, but I keep slamming into the door! The dad told me not to open the door, but the little girl opened it letting in the beast. I proceeded to running up on the couch and trying to navigate it back outside. I barely  made it out alive, but it went outside. Also, they pay well. That was all the excitement I could take for a weekend.

Now that you are several weeks in to this class and have coded one (super small) website, what do you think? What are your thoughts on web design? Is it what you thought it would be? Is it better? Worse? What's your favorite part? What's your least favorite part? Explain.

Web Design is one of my favorite classes! I feel like such a nerd when I'm coding and it rocks!I honestly thought I would hate this class, and I did at first, but now it's so much fun. I'm learning skills that are important nowadays. I know hat in the future it'll be really helpful to know the basics of how a web site works. The only thing I don't like is Code Academy. I hate Code Academy! It was helpful at fist, but nothing can stop my hatred for that place. On the other hand, I love when we're set free and out making web sites. I'm even thinking practicing making web sites for fun! In all, I love this class, and I can't wait o learn more!

What is the importance of deadlines? How do high school deadlines reflect or simulate "real world" experience? Give an example of when you met or or didn't meet a deadline that was important.

Deadlines are important because they keep us focused on tasks that need to be completed. Like, the deadline to pay your taxes. I think that High Schools have deadline to prepare us for when missing a deadline could seriously hurt us. We have to learn to get things done before the deadline to prevent stress or being late. For Example, I missed turning in my summer reading packet.

Reflect on this quote. Give an example of a time in your life that this might have been the case.

I think that this is very intelligent quote about procrastination.  I have a problem with failing to prepare, and I have suffered from it for the past five years. The most recent example would be last night when I had not done my math homework, and I was up till 11:00 working on it. Then there was last week when I didn't prepare for my AP Human Geography test till the night before. That same night I was filling in my dot book for band. I had had four weeks to prepare the dot book, but I chose to do the majority of it the night before. The only reason I am here today is because I can wok quickly and effectively understand stress. I would still be in 5th grade if it wasn't for this skill.

What did you do this weekend? Share pictures if you have them!

I did nothing this weekend. I hardly did any homework, and I when outside for two seconds and got tired. You see, I was on Netflix for at least 10 hours Saturday and Sunday. It was some of my finest work. I watched season three and four of Supernatural and the first episode of Sherlock. That was it...

Below is one of my favorite quotes that I found on Pinterest. Think read and think about what this says and then blog about it. What does this quote mean to you? Elaborate! Feel free to give an example of tell a story.

I love this quote! I think that it's brilliant and true. There are so many places to go and things to do in this world. There is no reason or us to bored. Even if you don't go anywhere we can think, read, and write. We can go out and save a cat from a tree or become the best scarf maker in the world. There is always something for us to do, because we are alive on Earth with billions of people and places. Even if every moment of our lives was spent doing something amazing, there would sill be something to do. So, I don't think we should ever be bored, and that's why I love this quote.

How do you express your creativity? Explain.

I express my creativity by writing. I love to write random and and original ideas, even if they are short and make no sense. I'm not the best writer, but I love to come up with no stories. I do best with fictional-comedy. When we work with code academy, I like to make profiles for pig assassins, obsessed  soccer moms, and secret agents.

What did you do this weekend? Share pictures if you have them!

On Saturday, I woke up and watched Netflix till noon. After that I went to band for four hours. We worked on part 2 of our performance, and we got a lot of work done. Sadly, I got a sunburn on my neck, because I forgot to wear sunscreen. On Sunday, I went to church, did more homework, and watched Netflix or the rest of the day.

Friday, September 5

Oh, those wipper snappers these days; I can't keep up with them. Their always going to parties and listening to loud music. When I was a kid, we never did anything like that. I remember David Shoebottom and his wife always went to Bingo on Friday night. What fun... What was I saying? Oh right! Kids need to get their act together! If I have to keep chasing those youngins off my lawn, I'll eventually die! They need to go out to bingo and play cards. What fun...

Tell me about what you have learned in this class so far. Have you learned a lot? Do you want to learn more? What do you want to be able to do by the end of the semester?

I have learned a lot in this class. I learned how to create websites, how to blog, and what coding is. Also, I have become more comfortable with technology. Now I am using my email and Google Drive nearly everyday. I feel like I have a new respect and understanding for technology that I didn't have before. At the end of the year I would like to be able to create real working websites and work well with html.

Tell me all about your Labor Day weekend. What did you do? Include photos!

Over the weekend I was very stressed about my up coming test. I spent a lot of my time studying and freaking out. I wasn't till Monday that I was able to calm down and enjoy my time off. I decided that the best way to spend my time was to be a little rebellious. I went down to a city park and rode my bike for an hour and a half. This park was about 3 miles away, so I was gone for a very long time. Thankfully when I got back no one had noticed I was gone, and I had I great adventure!

Friday August 29

Read this small newspaper clipping and then write a blog post about it. What are your thoughts? How does it make you feel? Do you agree? Disagree?

I agree with this text. I think that a lot of teenagers, including myself, need to hear this. There is a lot of words here that are harsh, but it is very realistic. There is a point where a teenager becomes an adult, but so many deny that it will ever happen. Teens can do so much for society it more of us got up off the couch and did something. Even though this is hard to hear I respect what this Judge said.

Tell me if you agree with this statement and then explain why or why not. "Images on the internet are 'free game' - if someone posted it, I should be able to use it."

I do not agree with this statement. Even though it can be annoying it is still fair and kind to give credit for someone else's work. When on the internet you most give credit were credit is due. Downloading illegally or copying without credit is stealing online.

Tell me a little bit about yourself and your life here at BVHS. What activities or clubs are you involved in? What year are you in school? What is your favorite class and/or teacher so far this year? What are you looking forward to this school year?

My life here at BVHS as a 9th grader is going good so far. I'm in band and I'm thinking about photography club. In the spring, I going to do track and swimming. I think I might even do the bowling in the winter. My favorite class is AP Human Geography and Web Design. These are my favorite because they're different and useful  to learn. I'm looking forward to performing for marching band. We have a really cool show that I'm sure everyone will love! I'm sure I'll have a great year!

Monday August 25th

What do you know about Web Design right now? What did you know about Web Design before you walked in to this class? Tell me as much as you can about how web pages work. Try to use an example if possible.

I know simple HTML codes. It's still more than I knew before I walked int this classroom. I knew nothing before, but now I understand the basics of coding and web design. I know that when you start a web page you have to put <!DOCTYPE>. Also a web page begins and ends with <html> and that you put a / to end it. I learned how to make list, add links, insert pictures, make paragraphs, and create a title.
